Mission Statement
To help parents and teachers understand how the current literacy crisis came about and what they can do to help children and students learn and love to read.
Sharon Hillestad, veteran educator and author of The Reading War, and daughter Holly Haggerty have teamed up to share knowledge, tips, and stories gained from decades of experience.
Sharon and Holly have worked in education for many decades. Between 2004 and 2013, Holly oversaw training and tutoring in 166 tutoring programs operating under the No Child Left Behind Act in six states. Sharon oversaw the curriculum used in all of these programs. Students in the program showed an average increase of one full grade level in 20 hours of tutoring.
